BMW「S1000RR」でWSBKにチャレンジ(動画あり)
MotoGPに参戦？との噂も出ていたBMW、まずは世界スーパーバイク選手権にチャレンジする為のマシン、S1000RRを発表しました！！
ドイツのBMW モトラッド(Motorrad/二輪部門)は、スーパーバイク世界選手権に出場するためのマシン「S1000RR」を公開した。横置き並列4気筒エンジンを搭載するが、詳細は未公開。
動画もありました。
BMW社内での発表会の様子のようですね。少しだけ音も聞けます。

S1000RRはどこからどう見ても、オードソックスというか、横置き並列４気筒エンジンの日本製バイクと何ら変わるところが見いだせません。
水平対抗ボクサーエンジンも、シャフトドライブも、デュオレバーも、パラレバーも、テレレバーサスペンションもありません。
それだけに、日本車やドゥカティに対してマジで勝ちに行くマシンということでしょう。

There were several interesting clues in the speech, most notably that the new S 1000 RR would have “a number of special features, especially on the cylinder head”.
We’re not sure if this means pneumatic valves, which the company already has considerable expertise with thanks to its Formula One involvement or some other factor.
So too did the company disclose that it decided on a straight four after evaluating various engine concepts as it offered “the best qualities to meet the power, performance, weight, and package requirements.”
Another skill set under development for some time at BMW Motorrad is that of traction control and its application to motorcycles. The company confirmed the bike will have traction control but elected against providing further information at this time
外観は別として、中身はBMWらしい革新的な技術が検討されているようです。
特にシリンダーヘッドに関するコメントから推測すると、当然ニューマチックバルブの採用は、BMWザウバーF1で十分な経験があるBMWですから当然検討されていることでしょう。
エンジンは様々な形式が検討されているようですが、並列４気筒を選択した１つの理由はニューマチックバルブ機構をコンパクトに組めることになる筈です。
またトラクションコントロールもかなり力が入っているようで、元々バイクにエレクトリックな技術を採用するのが積極的なBMWはこの分野は得意な筈です。
で、スーパーバイクにエントリするということは、S1000 RRが市販されるということです。
